A port amongst the mountains
The Port of Sóller is one of the few natural ports in the Tramuntana. There have always been settlements in the zone, and prehistoric remains have even been found on the hill of La Muleta.
Access to the port is by road or through a tunnel, the Sa Mola Tunnel, or on the historic tram that connects Sóller with the Port, with a lovely journey through orange and lemon groves.
The ride crosses the port from side to side, starting at Can Repic Beach and continuing to the military base on the other side. The promenade is full of attractive bars and restaurants, perfect for nights out.
There are also various places offering dramatic vistas of the coast from cliffs that plunge breathtakingly into the sea, such as at the Santa Catalina viewpoint. The Chapel of Santa Catalina, right next to the viewpoint, has been turned into a maritime museum and each year this special site hosts concerts.
